Frosted - A Fractured Fairytale
|
Golden BoyHe was painted gold and his eyes were chipped pieces of marble sewn together. The little boy flew up the graphite walk past the beaten signs, soul tucked in close. His tie was a noose and his black leather shoes cut across his ankles. It leaves his steps quick and red and he runs until he cannot. Short of breath and dense with tears he calls out to his mother and she will not respond.
Lovely it Fell, Soft it StoodThere was once a snowflake, lovely and frosted it fell. Everyday the snowflake glided towards the ground slowly and surely down. One day he met a friend. This snowflake was bigger but softer by nature. He made him laugh, oh how they laughed! They held crystals hands down and down they fell. So that they fell in love, strong and binding through the winds and currents. It was a struggle but through and through they persevered with a smile. After sometime they saw the ground coming up close and knew their time spent in the air was nearing the end. The snowflakes hugged and cried and fell together. They hit the ground and sunk into the dirt. They melted into one within the earth and lied peacefully and unconscious. Months passed until one sunny
day, finally a flower emerged. The flower smiled and laughed and lovely and soft it stood. WorkThe people, the people, the news. People say it will get better. The people, the news, the children. They speak about how times will changes and how the sun will again shine. When has my optimism felt so grey, and the sun through the clouds so cold? The dirt between my skin shakes as the voice of the children ask for an end to their empty. My skin is tough and my hands are sore. The mud will tremble and the people continue to live in the clouds. They smile forward with hope and pride and I will work.
